MELANIZED - an original work by Davon Suttles

Choreographer Davon Suttles, in partnership with Keane Sense of Rhythm and the Minnesota State Arts Board, present MELANIZED.

MELANIZED is a multimedia tap show about living as a person of color (POC). Through tap dance, live music, and film we will address systemic racism by looking into issues such as Red Lining, Concentration Camps, and Police Brutality. We will also showcase the beauty that comes with living as a person of color by exploring various art form created by POCs such as Gospel, R&B, and Konnakol.

Davon Suttles (Producer), in partnership with Keane Sense of Rhythm, is a fiscal year 2019 recipient of a Cultural Community Partnership grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board. This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board, thanks to a legislative appropriation by the Minnesota State Legislature; and by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.
We’re also proud to announce that Hennepin Theater Trust is the presenting partner of this project.

The MELANIZED cast includes:
Davon Suttles (producer, choreographer, dancer)
Noah Brewington and Nina Maxwell (dancers)
Kennedy Hurst, Keston Wright, and Mackinnley Moren Jacobs (singers)
Musicians will be announced in the coming weeks
