Adult Class Offerings

Tap Level I: Beginner – Monday, 6:30pm-7:45pm
No experience necessary. You know how to walk, now learn how to tap! Just like any new language, we start off simple, building good technique as we develop our physical vocabulary. Learn how to flap, shuffle, and more. This class is also perfect as a refresher course. Laughter is encouraged. Tap shoes are optional.

Tap Level II: Intermediate – Monday, 7:45pm-9:00pm
We will work on different styles of time steps and other common rhythm patterns. Learn techniques to keep you traveling through time to exciting jazz and world music. Across the floor and combinations will be taught.

Tap Level III: Intermediate/Advanced
Put a little spring in your step with music that really swings! Combinations will focus on advanced technique, speed, shading, and clarity of sound.

Tap Level IV: Advanced
This fast-paced, highly technical class features improvisation, exercises and composition. Many subtleties of sound are emphasized, such as phrasing, shading and playing to the melody or counterpoint. Sweating is encouraged. KSR repertory will be introduced.

FAQ’s

Do you offer virtual classes?
Yes! All of our classes are available in-person and via Zoom (if desired.) We have a spacious studio and we limit in-person class sizes to maintain safe, social distancing. Teachers and students are always masked. But if you’re not comfortable coming to class, we understand. Just let us know that you’d like to virtually participate.
What should I bring to class?
Please bring a water bottle, a willingness to learn, and a sense of humor. We love to have fun!
What should I wear?
Please feel free to wear whatever allows you to move most comfortably. Most participants wear a tank top or t-shirt and capris, shorts, or athletic pants. (We also have some lovely KSR wear you can buy!) Tap shoes are required for more advanced levels.
What if I don’t have tap shoes?
We can help you get a good shoe at a great value. Some tap shoe sizes are available to try before you buy. Just ask us!
How much do classes cost?

What to expect?
In our adult classes, we bring a well designed and proven program by which our dancers can expect to build new skills, participate, help create community, and gain cognitive results.

Since repetition breeds memory, classes are offered weekly all year long. You can join anytime, we do work on choreography as a part of every class, not necessarily a whole routine. Our classes are geared towards deep and sequential learning without the pressure of performing. For those interested, there are opportunities to perform, both informal and formal.

Adult learners bring life experiences and self-determination into the classroom experience and we value that, attendees have a voice in setting priorities and the instructors bring personal, historical, and cultural elements to enrich the learning process for students of all ages.
